Police Neutralize 7 Kidnappers, Arrest 5 Robbery Suspects, Recover Rifles and Stolen Vehicles in Delta and Kaduna

In a major boost to internal security, the Nigeria Police Force has made significant strides in tackling crime through coordinated intelligence-led operations. The latest efforts led to the neutralization of seven suspected kidnappers, the arrest of five armed robbery suspects, and the recovery of two AK-47 rifles and five stolen vehicles across Delta and Kaduna States.

Delta Police Operations: Seven Kidnappers Neutralized, Weapons Recovered

On June 4, 2025, a joint team comprising Delta State Police operatives, local vigilantes, and anti-cult volunteers acted on credible intelligence to raid a notorious kidnapping hideout along the Abraka Railway axis. The encounter resulted in a gun battle, during which four suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded. One AK-47 rifle and 13 rounds of live ammunition were recovered at the scene.

In a related operation along the Ughelli–Patani Road near Ewhereni Junction, the CP’s Special Assignment Team flagged down a shuttle bus. The occupants opened fire in a failed escape attempt, leading to another exchange of gunfire. Three suspects were neutralized, and an AK-47 rifle with 18 live rounds was recovered. Investigations confirmed the gang’s involvement in a series of kidnappings in Delta State.

In Kaduna State, police operatives tracked and arrested five suspects linked to an armed robbery syndicate notorious for terrorizing local communities. The breakthrough followed the theft of a Toyota Hilux on May 28, 2025, from the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja.

One suspect, Mohammed Kabir from Samaru Gusau in Zamfara, was apprehended after a high-speed chase near Zaria. A Toyota Camry was later found abandoned along the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway. In a separate operation, Emmanuel Oliseh was arrested for stealing a Honda CR-V in Abuja. Additionally, a 1998 Toyota Camry was recovered from three suspects—Ibrahim Bala, Abdulsalam Abdullahi, and Abdulraman Muktar—who confessed to stealing the vehicle in Nasarawa State.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, praised the swift response of officers and security partners, emphasizing the need for continued public collaboration. He called on citizens to provide timely and credible information to aid law enforcement in keeping communities safe.
