Gombe, Nigeria – Key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the North-East geopolitical zone convened in Gombe for a high-level consultative meeting focused on party unity, leadership achievements, and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
The strategic gathering, attended by governors, lawmakers, ministers, and party leaders, was described as a mid-term self-assessment aimed at strengthening the APC’s presence in the region and evaluating the Tinubu-led administration’s reform agenda.
“Under Tinubu’s Leadership, Our Hope Remains Alive” – Governor Inuwa Yahaya
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, who hosted the event, reaffirmed his support for President Tinubu, stating that the North-East APC will unite to ensure his second-term victory in 2027.
> “We are satisfied with President Tinubu’s leadership. Our hope remains alive under his administration. We’ll mobilize as one APC family across all zones to secure victory,” Governor Inuwa said.
He also urged party members to remain united, recalling APC’s transformation from an opposition party in Gombe to the ruling party in 2019 due to grassroots mobilization and resilience.
Economic Hardship: Tinubu Not to Blame Alone – Inuwa
Governor Inuwa addressed the economic situation, attributing the current challenges to longstanding issues inherited from previous administrations.
> “These problems didn’t start with the APC. They were built over 16 years under PDP. President Tinubu has shown boldness in tackling these issues, and we must be patient to see the results,” he noted.
He praised improvements in security across the North-East and lauded Tinubu’s economic reforms as necessary steps toward long-term national recovery.
Ganduje Applauds Gombe Governor’s Achievements
APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his outstanding performance and leadership in Gombe State, noting that the consultative meeting would strengthen APC’s foothold in the North-East.
> “Governor Inuwa’s developmental strides have placed Gombe on the path of sustainable growth,” Ganduje stated.
Buni, Zulum Endorse Tinubu for 2027
Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, who chairs the APC North-East zone, described the meeting as a show of unity and a platform to chart the way forward. He emphasized the need to address internal party issues and maintain focus on national development.
Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, echoed similar sentiments, backing Tinubu’s re-election and urging Nigerians to stay hopeful despite the economic reforms causing temporary discomfort.
> “We support Tinubu/Shettima 2027. These reforms may be painful now, but they are necessary,” Zulum said.
National Assembly Caucus Backs Tinubu
Leaders of the North-East APC caucuses in the Senate and House of Representatives, including Senate Chief Whip Sen. Tahir Monguno and Hon. Usman Bello Kumo, passed a vote of confidence on Tinubu’s administration and pledged legislative backing for his second term.
Stakeholders Meeting Resolutions to be Forwarded to APC Headquarters
The consultative meeting concluded with the decision to formally communicate its resolutions to the APC National Secretariat in Abuja. Party unity, support for Tinubu/Shettima, and continued reforms were highlighted as key themes.
The event drew top dignitaries including former governors, ministers, senators, party officials, and grassroots leaders, reinforcing the APC’s strength in the North-East ahead of the 2027 general elections.
