Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, has arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for an official state visit following an invitation from Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali.
Upon his arrival, Shettima was welcomed by Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Gedion Timothewos, alongside other senior officials and representatives of both the Nigerian and Ethiopian diplomatic corps.
A key highlight of the visit is Vice President Shettima’s participation in the launch of Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Initiative—a major environmental campaign aimed at addressing deforestation and climate change. The programme targets the planting of 20 billion tree seedlings over four years to enhance biodiversity and promote environmental sustainability.
As part of efforts to deepen economic cooperation between Nigeria and Ethiopia, the Vice President is also scheduled to tour key industrial hubs and integrated agricultural projects. The visit aims to foster stronger partnerships in agro-industrial development and green growth across both nations.
