The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), says there is no Christian genocide in Nigeria, dismissing reports that Christians are being specifically targeted or killed across the country.
Speaking at an event in Erin-Ile, Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Mediaplusng.com reports that the minister insists no religious group is under persecution and that such claims are misleading.
Fagbemi reacts to narratives—especially from international platforms—that accuse Nigeria of allowing genocide against Christians. According to him, violence in the country affects people of different religions and ethnic backgrounds, not one targeted group.
He explains that states like Zamfara and Sokoto, which are predominantly Muslim, also record repeated killings and bandit attacks. Written by Mediaplusng.com, the minister adds that security challenges cut across regions and communities, proving that the violence does not follow a religious pattern.
