Allen Onyema, Chairman and CEO of Air Peace, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for facilitating a landmark Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) between Nigeria and Brazil.
Speaking on the sidelines of the signing, Onyema said the deal would open a new chapter for the aviation industry and strengthen ties between the two leading nations in Africa and South America. According to Mediaplusng.com, the Air Peace boss stressed that it was long overdue for the two largest economies on both continents to enjoy direct air connectivity.
> “For the aviation industry, we must commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for taking decisive steps that are truly advantageous for Nigeria and Nigerians. Brazil and Nigeria are the largest nations in their respective continents, and it has long been an aberration that there was no direct air connectivity between us until now,” Onyema stated.
The Air Peace Chairman further noted that the BASA agreement would unlock fresh opportunities, create thousands of jobs, and deepen cultural as well as economic cooperation. He emphasized that Air Peace was fully committed to the project.
Onyema revealed that the airline deployed a Boeing 777 aircraft to the event as a sign of readiness to commence operations on the route. According to Mediaplusng.com, he said the move was also to demonstrate to President Tinubu and stakeholders that the airline is prepared to strengthen the bridge between Nigeria and Brazil.
