Air Peace has dismissed circulating media stories claiming the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has released a preliminary report on the July 13, 2025 incident involving one of its aircraft in Port Harcourt.
The airline, in a statement seen by Mediaplusng.com, said it has not received any official communication from the NSIB more than a month after the incident. It also stressed that the alcohol test conducted on the crew was carried out less than an hour after the event, yet the results have not been officially shared with the airline.
Air Peace emphasized that safety and compliance remain its top priorities. According to Mediaplusng.com, the airline clarified that it enforces a strict “zero tolerance” policy for alcohol and drug use, with regular crew tests that go beyond regulatory requirements.
Following the incident, the airline confirmed that the flight captain was grounded for ignoring Crew Resource Management (CRM) rules and failing to follow standard go-around procedures. The airline said this disciplinary action was not connected to any alleged failed alcohol test, as the NSIB has not communicated such results. In contrast, the co-pilot, who reportedly demonstrated professionalism, has been cleared by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and reinstated to active flight duty.
Air Peace added that if the captain is eventually confirmed to have tested positive for alcohol, it would further tighten the frequency of crew testing. The airline also announced plans to strengthen its internal monitoring, enhance Fitness-for-Duty checks, and expand Crew Resource Management training.
Reaffirming its commitment, Air Peace said it has maintained a solid safety record and will never compromise the trust of its passengers or the Nigerian public.
