Airline Continues Probe as VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof Apologise Over In-Flight Disruption

Nigeria’s United Nigeria Airlines says its investigation is still ongoing despite public apologies from comedian Freedom Atsepoyi (Mr Jollof) and social media activist Martins Otse (VeryDarkMan/VDM). Both men were involved in a confrontation that disrupted a flight and caused delays for passengers.

According to Mediaplusng.com, the two public figures release separate apology videos where they explain their sides of the incident and appeal for forgiveness from the airline and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

On Instagram, Mr Jollof explains the events that led to the clash, insisting he only acted in self-defence. He also apologises to affected passengers, the airline, and the NCAA, saying he regrets the inconvenience caused.

He says, “I sincerely apologise to the NCAA, United Nigeria Airlines, and all passengers. I only defended myself, but I am sorry for delaying your appointments. It will never happen again.”

VeryDarkMan also issues an apology, admitting that his actions were irresponsible. However, he states that he cannot promise he will never fight again—only that such behaviour will not happen on an aircraft or any public space where people’s movement may be disrupted.

He says many passengers may have missed important commitments, including business meetings and medical appointments, because of the delay. He adds that he feels embarrassed, especially after a woman repeatedly urged him to sit down during the altercation.

According to Mediaplusng.com, VDM says, “I acted irresponsibly. I apologise to everyone who looks up to me and felt disappointed. I take full responsibility for what happened.”

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for United Nigeria Airlines, Chibuike Uloka, confirms that despite the viral apologies, the airline has not taken a final position. He says the investigation continues until all facts are fully established.
