Former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has expressed his readiness to support any presidential candidate who emerges under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Amaechi made this statement on his arrival at the Port Harcourt International Airport, where he was warmly received by a large crowd of loyal supporters.
Addressing his supporters outside the airport’s VIP terminal, Amaechi took a swipe at the current administration, criticizing what he described as a lack of empathy towards the suffering of ordinary Nigerians. He urged citizens to consider joining the ADC as a platform for meaningful political change.
> “The people are hungry. The government doesn’t seem to care about the poor. It’s time we look to alternatives like the ADC and push for real change,” Amaechi said.
His remarks come amid growing political realignments and increasing discontent over the economic situation in the country. With this public show of support, Amaechi’s political trajectory appears to be shifting away from the ruling party, sparking new debates on possible coalitions ahead of 2027.
The event also signals Amaechi’s continued influence in Rivers State politics, with observers watching closely to see what role he will play in shaping the country’s future political landscape.
