The All Progressives Congress (APC) praises President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s global diplomatic efforts, saying his international engagements continue to deliver economic and strategic benefits for Nigeria. The party says the President’s foreign visits strengthen partnerships, attract investment, and reposition Nigeria on the global stage.
Mediaplusng.com reports that the National Chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, makes this position known while assessing President Tinubu’s diplomatic record since assuming office in May 2023. He says the President’s meetings with world leaders and investors are deliberate and focused on national development, not ceremonial travels.
According to Professor Yilwatda, President Tinubu uses international platforms to promote Nigeria’s economic interests, expand trade opportunities, and rebuild global confidence in the country. He explains that these engagements help Nigeria secure partnerships that support growth, innovation, and long-term prosperity.
Mediaplusng.com also reports that the APC chairman highlights Nigeria’s growing success in attracting foreign direct investment through sustained diplomatic outreach. He states that the administration records over 50 billion dollars in investment commitments across key sectors, including energy, manufacturing, agriculture, infrastructure, logistics, and technology.
Professor Yilwatda notes that President Tinubu engages leaders and investors across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the Americas. He lists countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, China, India, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Brazil as part of Nigeria’s expanding diplomatic and economic network.
He explains that these foreign missions focus on economic cooperation, trade expansion, and strategic partnerships that align with Nigeria’s reform agenda. According to him, the investments secured are expected to translate into job creation, skills development, technology transfer, and improved industrial capacity.
The APC chairman says the investment commitments are not abstract promises but practical agreements that support Nigeria’s economic recovery and growth. He adds that the administration prioritises deals that strengthen local industries and improve living standards for Nigerians.
Professor Yilwatda also points to recent diplomatic milestones, including the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates. He says the agreement expands cooperation in energy, agriculture, trade, and investment, while opening new opportunities for Nigerian businesses.
Reacting to criticisms about the frequency of the President’s foreign travels, the APC chairman describes such views as narrow and short-sighted. He argues that focusing only on travel costs without considering economic returns ignores the broader reform strategy of the administration.
According to him, Nigeria’s economic challenges require bold and strategic engagement with the global economy. He says President Tinubu’s reforms, supported by strong diplomacy, aim to stabilise the economy, attract capital, and build sustainable growth.
Professor Yilwatda urges Nigerians to remain patient and supportive as the benefits of these diplomatic efforts gradually reflect in the economy. He insists that economic reforms take time but are necessary to reposition Nigeria for long-term stability and competitiveness.
He further states that President Tinubu demonstrates strong political will by following through on difficult reforms, including economic restructuring and institutional strengthening. According to him, this commitment shows a clear vision to transform Nigeria and improve the welfare of citizens.
The APC chairman calls for national unity and constructive engagement, stressing that this is not the time for cynicism. He says collective support will help maximise the gains from Nigeria’s growing international partnerships.
He adds that the APC remains committed to promoting policies that ensure foreign investments translate into real development outcomes. According to him, the party will continue to support initiatives that drive job creation, economic inclusion, and shared prosperity.
Professor Yilwatda concludes that President Tinubu’s global diplomacy places Nigeria on a stronger footing internationally. He expresses confidence that sustained engagement with global partners will continue to unlock opportunities and deliver lasting benefits for the country.
