Bandits Kill Three, Rustle 1,000 Cows in Niger’s Magama LGA

Armed bandits have killed three people and stolen over 1,000 cows during fresh attacks on villages in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State, Mediaplusng.com reports.

The attack, which started around 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 30, spread across Ibeto, Salka, and Koso communities. Residents say the violence is still ongoing as of the time of filing this report.

According to eyewitnesses, villagers are fleeing into the bush for safety, while others have locked themselves indoors. One resident told Mediaplusng.com that the attackers also threatened to storm Kura community later in the evening. The bandits were said to be moving towards Magaman Daji, possibly to cross into Zamfara State after their operation.

The residents are now appealing to the federal and state governments to urgently send more security forces to the area, stressing that the nearest Army barracks is located in Kontagora. Efforts to reach Niger State Police Command spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, were unsuccessful as calls were not answered.

As of press time, the operation by the bandits is still ongoing. Mediaplusng.com will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates.
