Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has summoned contractors handling the government-funded sections of the Benin-Sapele Road rehabilitation project over the slow pace of work.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the governor, who personally drove through the 20-kilometre stretch on Sunday evening, stopped at various points to inspect the quality of materials used, including drains and pavements. He expressed disappointment at the delay and warned that his administration will not tolerate negligence from contractors.
Governor Okpebholo emphasized that his government remains committed to easing the hardship faced by commuters and residents in the affected communities. He noted that the rehabilitation of Benin-Sapele Road is a priority project aimed at improving infrastructure, boosting economic activities, and ensuring safer travel.
Speaking further, the governor assured residents that his administration would continue to monitor the project closely to guarantee timely delivery and quality standards. He maintained that accountability and transparency will drive all infrastructural projects under his leadership.
