The Vice President of Colombia, Francia Márquez, has arrived in Abuja for a three-day official visit to strengthen ties between Nigeria and Colombia.
She landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport alongside her husband, Mr. Rafael Yerney Pinillo Ocoró, and was warmly received by top Nigerian officials. Among those present were the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, Minister of Women Affairs, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmud Bunkure, and the Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, along with other senior government representatives.
The visit aims to deepen diplomatic relations and promote cooperation in key areas such as trade, agriculture, education, energy, security, and governance. The Colombian Vice President is accompanied by her country’s cabinet ministers, senior officials, and private sector leaders, who are expected to engage their Nigerian counterparts in high-level discussions.
A major highlight of the trip will be the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in strategic sectors, including women empowerment, manufacturing, culture, aviation, and agriculture.
