An Ikeja Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos, has ordered the remand of a 44-year-old man, Wasiu Akinwande, popularly known as Olori Esho, in connection with a series of brutal killings across Lagos State.

Magistrate Mobolaji Tanimola, during Tuesday’s proceeding, directed that the suspect be kept at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for an initial period of 30 days. This remand is to allow the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) to provide legal advice on the multiple charges filed against him.

Esho faces an 11-count charge which includes conspiracy to commit murder, multiple counts of murder, attempted murder, unlawful possession of firearms, membership of an illegal society, possession of a poisonous dagger, grievous bodily harm, and threats to life.

According to the police prosecutor, Nosa Uhumwangho, the accused and his accomplices (still at large) committed these heinous crimes between December 9, 2010, and April 5, 2025, across various parts of Lagos, including Mushin, Idi-Araba, Surulere, and Fadeyi.

Esho is alleged to have fatally shot Yusuf Bolakale (30) and Yusuf Ramadan (23) at Mosalashi Street, Mushin, while wielding an AK-47 rifle. He later fled to the Alagbado area, where he was eventually apprehended by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.

Furthermore, the court heard that on December 9, 2010, the suspect allegedly shot and killed a 10-year-old girl, Aminat Lateef, during an errand at Tiamiyu Street, Fadeyi.

In another violent incident on July 31, 2024, Esho reportedly led a deadly attack during a clash between rival cult groups in Idi-Araba, resulting in the deaths of six individuals, including victims identified as Anyila and Ojajo (surnames unknown).

The Magistrate adjourned the case, pending further investigations and legal advice from the DPP. The suspect will remain in custody at Kirikiri Correctional Centre until the next hearing.
