Vice President Kashim Shettima has promised tougher military operations against terrorist groups across Nigeria, assuring that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is making heavy investments in advanced security equipment.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the Vice President gave this assurance in a condolence message on Monday, following the deadly attack in Darajamal community, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State. The assault claimed the lives of both civilians and military personnel, sparking fresh calls for stronger security in the region.
In his message, Vice President Shettima said President Tinubu has directed the Armed Forces to strengthen their strategies by deploying more military hardware, including surveillance drones, to dismantle terrorist networks across the country. He stressed that the federal government will continue to stand with the people of Borno State during this difficult period.
Mediaplusng.com reports that the Vice President also described the attack as a deep national tragedy. He extended condolences to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, the people of Borno State, and the Nigerian military, adding that justice will be served for the bereaved families.
Shettima noted that the federal government is also considering the creation of state police, saying security challenges in some parts of the country require local units that understand the terrain, culture, and grassroots networks. He expressed confidence that with the renewed military strategy, Nigeria’s fight against terrorism will yield results.
The Vice President concluded by offering prayers for the victims and reaffirmed the federal government’s full support to both the state government and affected families.
