The Presidency has corrected an error in the Democracy Day National Honours list announced by President Bola Tinubu during his speech at the joint session of the National Assembly.
In the list recognizing notable pro-democracy activists and national heroes for their role in Nigeria’s democratic journey, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, leader of Afenifere, and Dr. Edwin Madunagu, a respected activist, was mistakenly listed under the posthumous award category.
The presidency clarified that both respected figures are alive and should not have been included in that category.
A statement from the State House expressed deep regret over the mistake and assured that all necessary updates will be made across official digital platforms to correct the oversight.
This clarification comes as part of the government’s effort to honour all recipients accurately and respectfully.
