Edo ADC Attack: APC Denies Involvement in Security Incidents, Says Focus Remains on State Congress

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State rejects allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) linking it to recent security incidents at ADC event venues, insisting the party has no involvement in the disturbances.

Mediaplusng.com reports that the Edo State Chairman of the APC, Jarrett Tenebe, makes the clarification shortly after returning to the state. He dismisses claims that the APC is connected to gunshots reportedly heard at the residence of former Edo State Governor, John Odigie-Oyegun, earlier in the week.

Speaking to party supporters and journalists, Tenebe describes the allegations as unfounded and politically motivated. He emphasizes that the APC is fully focused on its internal processes and preparations for its forthcoming state congress, and has no reason to interfere in the activities of another political party.

Mediaplusng.com gathers that the APC chairman stresses the importance of responsible political engagement, noting that security matters should not be politicized without credible evidence. According to him, linking the ruling party to incidents without investigation undermines public confidence and escalates tension unnecessarily.

Tenebe reiterates that the APC leadership in Edo State remains committed to peace, democratic principles, and lawful political participation. He states that the party refuses to be distracted by what he describes as attempts to draw it into avoidable controversies ahead of critical internal party activities.

Mediaplusng.com understands that the controversy follows reports of security concerns at venues associated with ADC events, including the alleged discharge of firearms near a private residence. However, the APC leadership insists that it has no connection to the incident and calls on security agencies to conduct thorough investigations to establish the facts.

Political observers note that heightened political activities ahead of party congresses and elections often lead to tensions among rival parties. Analysts urge stakeholders to adopt peaceful rhetoric and allow law enforcement agencies to handle security investigations without interference.

The APC in Edo State affirms that its priority remains the successful conduct of its state congress and the strengthening of party structures across local government areas. As political activities intensify, party leaders call for calm, urging members and supporters across party lines to uphold peace and democratic values in the state.
