Former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has launched a grassroots mobilization drive in Sokoto State to rally support for the opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), aimed at unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
El-Rufai, who attended two strategic events in Sokoto, criticized the APC-led government, describing it as “incompetent and clannish”, arguing that the ruling party has failed to address Nigeria’s socio-economic and security challenges.
He expressed strong confidence in the capacity of the opposition alliance to end what he called the APC’s misrule. According to him, the coalition is composed of credible Nigerians whose focus is not personal ambition, but a collective effort to “rescue Nigeria from the wrong direction the current administration is heading.”
El-Rufai emphasized that the coalition movement is a nationwide initiative that seeks to reconnect with the grassroots, assuring that the people’s voices will drive the change in 2027.
Also speaking, Senator Abubakar Gada, an opposition leader in Sokoto, urged citizens to join forces with the coalition, stressing that Nigeria needs a leadership that truly reflects national unity, competence, and accountability.
