The European Union (EU) has applauded the Plateau State Government for its active support of the Inclusive Resilience and Empowerment for Women (I-RENEW) Project, which aims to promote peaceful coexistence, religious tolerance, and community resilience.
Speaking at the official close-out ceremony of the I-RENEW initiative, the EU highlighted the project’s impact in empowering women and youths across Plateau and Kaduna States. The program, which focused on strengthening local communities through economic opportunities and dialogue, is recognized as a key driver of social cohesion and conflict prevention in the region.
The EU delegation emphasized the importance of sustained local ownership to safeguard the progress achieved. They urged both state and community leaders to continue fostering an environment where diversity is embraced, and peaceful dialogue is encouraged as a tool for conflict resolution.
The Plateau State Government was commended for its partnership and commitment to supporting initiatives that address root causes of communal clashes and promote inclusive development. The EU reaffirmed its dedication to collaborating with Nigeria in advancing peace-building efforts, particularly in regions affected by ethno-religious tensions.
