The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has taken its price monitoring and consumer rights awareness campaign to major markets across Abuja. The Commission visited markets in Kwali, Gwagwalada, Kuje, and Abaji Local Government Areas to engage with market leaders, traders, and key stakeholders.
The goal of the outreach is to educate traders on consumer rights, discourage price manipulation, and understand the factors causing the persistent increase in food prices across the country.
Speaking at the market square during the visit, Mrs. Bridget Etim, Principal Consumer and Business Education Officer, represented the FCCPC Executive Vice Chairman, Mr. Tunji Bello. She emphasized the Commission’s commitment to protecting Nigerian consumers from price gouging and unfair trade practices.
Etim noted that the FCCPC has been actively involved in public education and advocacy, urging traders to avoid exploitative pricing and uphold ethical business conduct.
She assured consumers that the Commission will continue to monitor prices and promote competitive and fair market practices, ensuring that Nigerians receive value for their money.
The FCCPC also pledged to keep supporting the development of a safe and accessible market environment, where all citizens enjoy equal protection under consumer laws.
