The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in the fight against violent crime with the arrest of two notorious kidnapping kingpins. The suspects — Masud Abdullahi, male, from Karu LGA, Nasarawa State (gang leader), and Muhammad Tahir, male, from Jos, Plateau State — were captured following a well-coordinated counter-kidnapping operation.
According to a report by Mediaplusng.com, the arrests came after a distress call was received on 16th August 2025 at around 12:05 a.m. Kidnappers had invaded an estate in Karu, Abuja, and abducted Barrister Henry Chichi from his home. Swift intervention by the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit mounted intense pressure on the criminals, which led to the safe release of the victim on 17th August 2025 at 9:05 p.m.
In a follow-up joint operation with the Nasarawa State Police Command, the gang was tracked to the Guraku axis of the Nasarawa-FCT Highway, where their operational vehicle, a red Opel Vectra (Reg. No. BLD 566 AT), crashed. While some gang members escaped, operatives successfully arrested Masud Abdullahi and Muhammad Tahir.
Mediaplusng.com reports that the suspects later led police operatives to their hideout in Karshi Forest, Nasarawa State, where another gang member, Kabiru Jibril (22 years), was apprehended. Items recovered from the hideout include:
₦7.4 million cash
Three AK-47 rifles with magazines
One G3 rifle with a magazine
Sixteen rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition
One Tecno handset
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale praised the professionalism of his officers and assured residents that efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the syndicate. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the capital.
