In a sustained crackdown on illicit drugs and related crimes, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested 116 suspects during coordinated raids across Abuja communities. The operations were carried out by officers of the Anti-Narcotics Section of the Command between August 1, 2025, and the present date, according to Mediaplusng.com.
The raids, which targeted several notorious black spots, covered areas such as Asokoro, Trademore, Mapape, Kurudu, Kubwa, Gwarimpa, Jikwoyi, Utako, Life Camp, Zuba, and Karshi. Police operatives recovered a range of illicit substances including hard drugs and dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
Out of the 116 suspects arrested, 89 were released after diligent screening, while 27 suspects have been charged to court on offences bordering on public nuisance and possession of illicit substances, Mediaplusng.com reports.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Ajao S. Adewale, psc, mnips, praised the efforts of the Anti-Narcotics operatives and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring a safe, drug-free Abuja. He also appealed to residents to remain law-abiding, avoid hard drug abuse, and cooperate with ongoing security measures to make the capital city safer.
