FG Pledges Support to Farmers’ Association to Boost Food Security

The Federal Government has assured the Amana Farmers and Grains Suppliers Association of Nigeria (AFGSAN) of full support in its drive to improve food production and achieve sustainable food security in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to Mediaplusng.com, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, gave the assurance in Abuja when he received a delegation of AFGSAN led by its National President, Alhaji Haruna Ahmad Pambegua. Akume noted that the association requires more government backing to expand its efforts in food production, adding that their requests would be presented to the President for consideration.

The SGF also commended the association for its contribution to agriculture, stressing that the Tinubu administration is investing heavily in mechanized farming. He explained that new tractors and trucks have been imported, while dams and rural roads are being constructed to boost agricultural output across the country. He urged AFGSAN to help create awareness about the government’s efforts in transforming the sector, Mediaplusng.com reports.

In his remarks, Alhaji Haruna Pambegua, AFGSAN’s National President, praised the administration for policies that he said have positively impacted the lives of Nigerians. He pledged the association’s total support to the government and called for tractors, fertilizers, and other farm inputs to be made available to members at subsidized rates to increase production and supply of food nationwide.
