The Federal Government of Nigeria is set to unveil a groundbreaking digital platform—Diaspora BRIDGE—aimed at connecting Nigerian professionals and academics abroad with local tertiary institutions to foster research, innovation, and development.
The official launch will take place on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the State House, Abuja. The event will be presided over by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, and the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, CON.
Diaspora BRIDGE—short for Bridging Research, Innovation, Development, and Global Engagement—is a strategic initiative by the Federal Ministry of Education to deepen collaboration between Nigerian academic institutions and the country’s global talent pool. It aligns with government efforts to drive innovation and position Nigeria as a center for global knowledge exchange.
The platform allows Nigerian diaspora professionals to create profiles, list areas of expertise, and partner with universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and research bodies within Nigeria. Simultaneously, local institutions can specify their research and development needs, enabling demand-driven, structured partnerships.
Key features of the platform include virtual collaboration tools, academic matchmaking, and real-time project tracking. It is also integrated with the TERAS platform to enhance transparency, institutional alignment, and measurable outcomes.
The Ministry invites educators, researchers, and stakeholders in the education sector to tune in to the launch, which will be live-streamed on select national TV stations.
More information, including registration details, will be made available on the platform’s official website: [www.diaspora-bridge.ng] after the launch.
