In a significant humanitarian gesture, Nigeria’s First Lady and Chairperson of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated ₦1 billion alongside critical relief materials to support victims of floods, banditry, boat mishaps, and fire outbreaks in Niger State.
During her visit to the Niger State Government House in Minna, the First Lady presented the donation which includes 2,000 bags of 50kg rice, 16,000 women’s wrappers, clothing, and over 100 pairs of shoes, aimed at assisting displaced families affected by recent disasters across the state.
Senator Tinubu emphasized that the intervention aligns with the Renewed Hope Initiative’s mission to restore dignity and rebuild lives shattered by both natural and man-made crises.
> “We recognize the difficult times faced by many families in Niger State. Our prayers are with those who have lost loved ones, and we stand in solidarity with the affected communities,” she said.
She also extended heartfelt condolences to victims of the Mokwa flood disaster, recent boat accidents, and continuous banditry attacks, commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his swift approval of emergency relief efforts, including housing reconstruction and food distribution.
Senator Tinubu lauded Governor Umaru Bago for his prompt response to the emergencies, describing him as a “compassionate and proactive leader” who has shown unwavering commitment to his people’s welfare.
In his remarks, Governor Bago expressed gratitude for the First Lady’s support, noting that Niger State, being the only riverine state in northern Nigeria, grapples with recurring flood and security challenges.
> “The ₦1 billion donation has been credited to the state’s emergency relief account and will be deployed transparently to aid affected families,” Bago assured.
Governor Bago also announced the official endorsement of President Tinubu’s second-term bid by the Niger State APC, applauding his leadership and the impactful humanitarian interventions led by the First Lady.
The visit marks a significant boost to Niger State’s ongoing recovery efforts, as the government and the Renewed Hope Initiative work collaboratively to provide immediate relief and long-term support to disaster victims.
