Nigeria’s First Lady and National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), Senator Oluremi Tinubu, donates three fully equipped mobile clinic ambulances to the Taraba State Government and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to strengthen healthcare delivery in underserved communities.

Speaking at the handover ceremony in Abuja, the First Lady describes the donation as a practical step to take quality healthcare closer to the people, especially in emergencies and hard-to-reach areas, Mediaplusng.com reports. She says the RHI “Love on Wheels” project is designed to extend medical care beyond hospital walls and improve response time through trained healthcare professionals.

Senator Tinubu explains that two of the mobile clinics are earlier pledged to the NYSC during the commissioning of the Nigerian Digital Museum in Abuja on January 23, 2025. She attributes the delay in delivery to the process of building the mobile units from scratch to meet required medical and safety certification standards.

She adds that the third mobile clinic is donated to the Taraba State Government, a promise she made during her official visit to the state on April 11, 2025, while attending a health programme for frontline health workers, Mediaplusng.com reports. According to her, the intervention reflects the Renewed Hope Initiative’s commitment to inclusive and people-focused governance.

The First Lady stresses that the donation is non-partisan and driven by national interest rather than party politics. She notes that Taraba State is governed by a different political party, but insists that service to Nigerians must come before political affiliation.

She says the Renewed Hope Initiative is not afraid of political campaigns when the time comes, but clarifies that official visits to states are aimed at reaching Nigerians in need, regardless of political differences. According to her, governance must deliver real impact and tangible benefits to the people.

Senator Tinubu prays that the mobile clinics are used responsibly to save lives, support emergency response, and complement existing state healthcare services. She officially hands over one mobile clinic to the Taraba State Government and two to the National Youth Service Corps under the RHI Love on Wheels programme.

Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, expresses deep appreciation to the First Lady for the donation, describing it as a major boost to healthcare coverage in the state. He says the mobile clinic will help reach rural and vulnerable communities where access to quality healthcare remains a challenge.

Governor Kefas commends Senator Tinubu for extending support beyond party lines, noting that the gesture demonstrates true leadership and national unity. He reveals that the mobile clinic is the first personal gift he receives since becoming governor, describing it as both symbolic and impactful.

He praises the First Lady as a visionary leader who supports her husband and prioritises the welfare of Nigerians. The governor also calls on other state leaders and partners to support similar initiatives that strengthen healthcare systems across the country.

Speaking on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the Minister of State, Dr Iziaq Adekunle Salako, applauds the First Lady for her sustained commitment to the health sector. He describes the mobile clinics as a clear demonstration of compassion and responsible leadership.

Dr Salako says the Renewed Hope Initiative continues to give strong attention to healthcare delivery, especially for underserved populations. He notes that the mobile clinics reflect a deep understanding of public health needs and the importance of preventive and emergency care.

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Oluseye Nafiu, describes the two mobile clinics allocated to the NYSC as a strategic asset for reaching vulnerable Nigerians. He says the donation will strengthen the corps’ medical outreach and primary healthcare services nationwide.

He commends the First Lady for keeping her promise without the need for reminders, describing her as caring, benevolent, and deeply committed to the welfare of youths, children, and communities. According to him, access to healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege.

Brigadier General Nafiu reveals that NYSC medical personnel have provided primary healthcare services to over four million Nigerians, with an average of about 360,000 beneficiaries annually. He adds that thousands of doctors and medical personnel are deployed yearly to expand access to free healthcare in remote areas.

The event concludes with the official handover of the three mobile clinic ambulances by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, reaffirming the Renewed Hope Initiative’s goal of delivering people-centred healthcare solutions and strengthening health systems across Nigeria.

The donation marks another milestone in the First Lady’s ongoing efforts to support health, social welfare, and inclusive development nationwide.
