Abubakar Sadiq Sa’adu Fakai, a former Northwest Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has officially resigned from the party, expressing deep concerns over its current direction and departure from its core principles.
In a resignation letter addressed to the APC Chairman of Mahuta Ward, Fakai Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Fakai revealed that his decision followed “a period of profound introspection and dialogue with my conscience.” He emphasized that the party’s failure to align with its foundational ideals compelled him to step down.
“I have cherished the ideals and principles upon which the APC was founded — ideals that once promised a united, accountable, and prosperous Nigeria,” Fakai stated in his letter. He added that after extensive consultations with family, community leaders, and supporters, it became evident that the APC has consistently fallen short of public expectations.
The former National Executive Committee (NEC) member described his resignation as a matter of conscience and loyalty to his constituents. “In honour of my conscience and the aspirations of the people I represent, it has become imperative to part ways with the All Progressives Congress at this juncture,” he affirmed.
Although Fakai did not disclose his next political destination, he extended his best wishes to the APC and urged for continued peace and progress in Nigeria.
Fakai’s exit adds to the growing list of discontented members within the ruling party, raising questions about internal cohesion as the political climate heats up ahead of future elections.
