The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has formally resigned from his position, effective immediately. According to a statement issued by the party, the resignation was submitted to allow him to focus on pressing personal matters.
Dr. Ganduje’s resignation letter was addressed to the APC National Working Committee (NWC) through the party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru. In it, he thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve at the highest level of the party’s leadership.
Following his exit, President Tinubu has directed the Deputy National Chairman (North), Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, to assume the role of Acting National Chairman pending a formal National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to appoint a permanent replacement.
Dr. Ganduje assumed the chairmanship of the APC in August 2023 after the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu. His tenure saw efforts to boost party unity, increase electoral competitiveness, and reaffirm the APC’s leadership through several court victories and high-profile defections from opposition parties.
The APC’s NWC commended Dr. Ganduje for his dedication, vision, and contributions to the growth and stability of the party. His leadership was reaffirmed earlier this year by the NEC and the party’s National Caucus—a testament to the confidence reposed in him.
The party expressed appreciation for his service and extended best wishes for his continued contributions to national development. The APC reaffirmed its commitment to delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda under the leadership of President Tinubu.
