Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, directs all schools in the state to close on or before Friday, November 28, 2025, as a proactive response to the current security situation across the country.

Mediaplusng.com reports that the directive is announced by the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Professor Esrom Jocthan, during a meeting with Local Education Secretaries at the SUBEB headquarters in Gombe.

According to the governor’s order, all examinations must be completed before schools shut down on November 28. Professor Jocthan assures residents that Governor Yahaya remains committed to protecting lives and property across the state.

Mediaplusng.com recalls that the Federal Ministry of Education had earlier closed three federal secondary schools in Gombe — FGGC Bajoga, FGC Billiri, and Unity College Zambuk — following increased security threats.

At the tertiary level, security has also been strengthened at the State College of Nursing Sciences, where only one gate remains open and private vehicles are restricted. Students are dropped at the gate, and a 24-hour security team is stationed to monitor movement.
