Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has given Raffoul Nigeria Limited the contractor handling the 6.5km Woji–Aleto–Alesa road project, a one-month deadline to complete the work or risk losing the contract.
The road project, which includes a 200-metre bridge, connects Woji in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area to the Port Harcourt Refinery in Eleme Local Government Area when completed, it is expected to serve as an alternative route to the refinery and help reduce congestion on the busy East–West Road, which is currently under reconstruction.
According to Mediaplusng.com, Governor Fubara made this statement during an inspection visit to the project site on Friday. He revealed that the project was initially cancelled during a previous administration but said his government decided to give the contractor a final opportunity to deliver within one month.
The governor also expressed concern over indiscriminate dredging activities along the Woji River near the bridge construction area. He warned that such practices pose serious environmental risks and urged all involved to comply with environmental regulations.
Governor Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing key infrastructure projects across the state, ensuring they meet both quality and environmental standards.
