Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State has congratulated Professor Farouk Rasheed Haruna on his appointment as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Kontagora (FUEK).
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago describes Professor Haruna as a seasoned academic with years of impactful leadership in the education sector. He says the appointment is well-deserved, considering the professor’s strong record of excellence and commitment to advancing learning in Nigeria.
According to the governor, Professor Haruna possesses the capacity, competence, and vision needed to transform FUEK into one of the country’s leading institutions for teacher education and innovation. He expresses confidence that the new Vice-Chancellor will lead the university with integrity and purpose, building on its foundation to achieve academic distinction.
Governor Bago also appreciates the Federal Government for appointing Professor Haruna, pledging his administration’s full support to ensure his success. The governor adds that education remains a key pillar of his government’s development agenda, and partnerships with institutions like FUEK are essential for human capital development.
Established by an Act of Parliament in 2021, FUEK officially began operations in March 2025 after its transition from the Federal College of Education, Kontagora, where Professor Haruna previously served as provost.
