The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has praised security personnel for their professionalism and dedication during the recently concluded Kaura-Namoda South Constituency supplementary election in Zamfara State.
In a statement made available to Mediaplusng.com, the commendation was delivered through the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Mohammed Gumel, who described the exercise as one of the most peaceful elections conducted in recent years.
Speaking at the Zamfara State Police Command Headquarters, AIG Gumel applauded officers for adhering strictly to the ethics of the job and ensuring that law and order were maintained throughout the election period.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the senior police officer also extended gratitude to voters and political party officials for their cooperation, which helped deliver a smooth and credible process. He further revealed that there were no incidents of violence, political thuggery, or manipulation during and after the polls.
AIG Gumel, in company with the Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Maikaba, also acknowledged the media for their balanced and professional coverage before, during, and after the election.
The peaceful outcome in Zamfara is being seen as a boost to Nigeria’s democratic process, setting a standard for credible elections in the country.
