The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has intensified efforts to combat violent crimes across Nigeria by upgrading the Nigeria Police Force’s Technical Intelligence Unit (NPF-TIU) with cutting-edge technology and applications. This move is aimed at enhancing the Force’s capacity for intelligence gathering, crime detection, prevention, and the rapid apprehension of criminals.
As part of this strategic initiative, the IGP has mandated comprehensive training programs for TIU operatives, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle the newly deployed intelligence tools. These training sessions are aligned with international best practices and are designed to keep officers ahead of evolving crime patterns and security challenges.
The IGP emphasized that as crime dynamics continue to shift both globally and locally, the Nigeria Police Force must remain agile and proactive. He noted that the recent successes in dismantling high-profile arms trafficking syndicates in Benue, Taraba, Adamawa, and Plateau States, among other notable arrests, are a direct result of the Force’s intelligence-driven approach to policing.
IGP Egbetokun reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to enhancing national security through technology-driven crime prevention strategies. He assured citizens that the Force is fully prepared to respond decisively to emerging security threats, while reinforcing public trust through consistent and effective intelligence-led operations.
The Inspector-General urged Nigerians to continue cooperating with security agencies, stressing that collective vigilance and timely information remain key to sustaining peace and safety across the country.
