INEC Acting Chairman Meets Civil Society Leaders Ahead of Anambra Governorship Election

The Acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mrs. May Agbamuche, is meeting with leaders of civil society organizations (CSOs) at the INEC headquarters in Abuja. The meeting is part of INEC’s ongoing consultations with key stakeholders ahead of the Anambra State governorship election scheduled for next month.

According to Mediaplusng.com, the engagement aims to provide an avenue for the Commission to brief representatives of civil society on its level of preparedness for the forthcoming election, as well as to listen to their observations and recommendations. The session reflects INEC’s commitment to transparency and collaboration with stakeholders in ensuring credible and peaceful elections.

This marks the first official meeting Mrs. Agbamuche is holding with civil society groups since assuming office as Acting Chairman, following the exit of Professor Mahmood Yakubu on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. The interaction underscores the Commission’s resolve to strengthen stakeholder confidence and improve electoral processes across Nigeria.
