The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled Thursday, August 21, 2025, for the supplementary election in Kaura-Namoda South Constituency of Zamfara State.
According to a report by Mediaplusng.com, the announcement was made by the Zamfara State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Mahmuda Isah, during a stakeholders’ meeting in Gusau ahead of the poll.
Dr. Isah assured political parties, voters, and observers that INEC has made adequate arrangements to guarantee a smooth, credible, and hitch-free supplementary election.
The supplementary poll comes after the earlier Kaura-Namoda South by-election was declared inconclusive by the Returning Officer, Professor Lawal Sa’adu of the Federal University, Gusau He explained that the margin of votes between the leading party and its closest rival was smaller than the total number of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected in polling units where elections were cancelled, thereby making a supplementary election necessary.
INEC is appealing to all stakeholders, security agencies, and political parties to work together with the commission to ensure the success of the August 21 exercise, according to Mediaplusng.com.
