Kaduna Government Bans Mandatory Textbooks, Stops Arbitrary Fee Hikes

The Kaduna State Government has announced a ban on compulsory textbook purchases and arbitrary school fee hikes across public and private schools in the state. The move is part of Governor Uba Sani’s efforts to reduce the number of out-of-school children and make education more affordable for families.

According to Mediaplusng.com, the government said the policy will stop schools from forcing parents to buy textbooks from specific vendors and curb sudden tuition increases that often discourage children from staying in school. The initiative is expected to provide relief to struggling parents and strengthen access to basic education in the state.

Parents and education stakeholders have commended Governor Uba Sani for what they describe as a “bold and timely decision.” Many parents said the ban on tuition fee hikes will help reduce financial pressure and ensure that more children remain in school.

Mediaplusng.com also reports that the government directed all schools to strictly comply with the new rules or face sanctions. The administration reaffirmed its commitment to education reforms that align with its broader agenda of improving literacy, boosting school enrollment, and securing a better future for children in Kaduna State.
