The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Katsina State Command, uncovers and dismantles a suspected illegal arms fabricating factory in Kore Village along Batsari Road in Batagarawa Local Government Area, arresting four suspects during the operation.

Mediaplusng.com reports that the breakthrough follows a targeted raid carried out on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at about 10:00 a.m. by the Command’s Special Rapid Response Squad acting on credible intelligence. Security operatives storm the location after receiving actionable information about unlawful weapons production in the area.

In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Buhari Hamisu, the State Commandant, Abbas Dan-ile Moriki, directs an immediate but professional response upon receiving the intelligence report. The operation results in the discovery of locally fabricated weapons and equipment allegedly used in the illegal production process.

Mediaplusng.com gathers that the security team seizes various arms, manufacturing tools, and other materials linked to the suspected illicit operation. Four individuals identified as Haruna Lawal, 28; Badamasi Kabiru, 50; Hamza Lawal, 30; and Sagir Abba, 25, are apprehended at the facility during the raid.

According to the Command, the suspects are arrested inside the premises while allegedly engaging in unlawful arms fabrication activities. Preliminary investigations suggest the operation may be part of a broader network involved in the supply and distribution of illegal weapons within and beyond the state.

Mediaplusng.com understands that the suspects are currently undergoing further investigation aimed at uncovering possible collaborators, financiers, and intended buyers. Authorities affirm that due process will be strictly followed in prosecuting those found culpable under relevant laws.

Commandant Moriki reiterates the Corps’ commitment to combating the proliferation of illegal arms, describing such activities as a major threat to public safety and national security. He assures residents that intensified surveillance and intelligence-led operations will continue across Katsina State.

The NSCDC also emphasizes its broader mandate of protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, curbing economic sabotage, and addressing criminal activities that undermine peace and development. Security analysts note that illegal arms production remains a significant contributor to insecurity, banditry, and communal violence in parts of the country.

While thanking members of the public for their continued cooperation, the Command calls for sustained community support through timely and credible intelligence sharing. The Corps pledges to maintain proactive security measures to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for residents of Katsina State and Nigeria at large.
