Governor Dikko Radda Mourns Former Nigerian Leader
Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, has declared Monday, July 14, 2025, as a public holiday to honour the passing of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR), who died on Sunday evening, July 13, 2025, in London.
The announcement was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Abdullahi Garba Faskari, in an official statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary, Malam Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua.
According to the statement, the work-free day is to allow citizens of the state the opportunity to mourn the late leader, reflect on his legacy, and offer prayers for his soul.
Governor Radda expressed deep condolences to the Buhari family, the people of Katsina State, and the entire nation, describing the late President as a selfless leader, true democrat, and patriotic elder statesman who dedicated his life to the service of Nigeria.
The Governor prayed for the repose of Buhari’s soul, asking Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings, reward his service, and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.
Details of the burial and national mourning activities are expected to be announced in the coming days.
