Communities in Kebbi State have taken legal action against ElTahdam Exploration Limited and its Director of Operations, Abdulhakeem Nuhu, accusing them of criminal conspiracy and inciting violence in Warra District, Ngaski Local Government Area.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the case was filed under Section 105(3) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (2021) of Kebbi State. The complaint also cites violations of Sections 60(2), 76, and 79(1) of the Kebbi State Penal Code Law, 2021.
Court filings show that 27 community leaders and residents, including village heads and religious figures from Libata, Kabirba, and Kwanga communities, jointly submitted the complaint. They allege that in 2024, ElTahdam Exploration Limited entered their communities without consultation or consent, sparking unrest and tension among locals.
Lawyers representing the complainants — Y.B. Aminu Esq., T.I. Mukoshy Esq., and B.A. Idris Esq. — told Mediaplusng.com that the company’s actions created fear and confusion, particularly among young people, raising concerns about possible violent clashes. The court was urged to intervene urgently to prevent further escalation.
The Chief Magistrate Court I has now extended an interim injunction restraining Abdulhakeem Nuhu and ElTahdam Exploration Limited from entering the disputed communities. The restraining order, first issued on August 6, 2025, will remain in effect until September 16, 2025.
At the latest court session, the defendants were absent. The complainants’ counsel requested an adjournment in the interest of justice, which the court granted. The case has been adjourned to September 15, 2025, for arraignment of the defendants.
