Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has urged parents and the rescued Maga schoolgirls not to let the recent abduction stop their education. He assured families that the government is working hard to strengthen security in all schools, Mediaplusng.com reports.
Governor Idris made the appeal while officially handing over the 24 rescued girls to their parents. The emotional event brought relief and celebration, marking a historic moment for the families and the state. It was attended by three former governors, parents of the girls, and top government officials.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the ceremony began with an update from the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Halima Bande, who confirmed that the girls are stable and receiving necessary care.
While presenting the children to their parents, Governor Idris thanked President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of State for Defence, and security agencies for their commitment and teamwork in securing the girls’ release. He praised the parents for their prayers and resilience and assured them that Kebbi State has strengthened measures to keep schools safe.
Parents expressed overwhelming joy as they embraced their daughters again after the traumatic ordeal. The Kebbi State First Lady also met with the girls and presented them with gifts as part of the celebration.
