Kebbi Military widows debunks sexual harassment reports from military high commands

The Military Widows Association (NIWA), Kebbi State Branch, on Tuesday, refuted a report on sexual harassment allegations against top Military Higher Command in Abuja, circulating by some online media in the state.

The state coordinator of the association, Hajiya Asmau Kanoma, debunked the report while briefing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.

She said,” I was taken aback and dumbfounded by a report circulating by some online media that the association had grumbled that its members had to go through sexual harrassment by the Military Higher Command before the entitlements of their deceased husbands were released.

” The report was bogus, fake, and has no an iota of truth therein. We, the leaders, and members of the association, hereby distance ourselves from such a report. Neither the leaders of the association nor its members dished out such a report.”

However, the group urged the general public to disregard the entire report because its contents didn’t represent the position of MIWA in Kebbi state adding that accessing death benefits deoends on the unit the deceased army officer served” we don’t go through strenuous process before getting paid what is due to us” she said.

She added that though the military widows experienced challenges before getting their husband benefits, but the issue of sexual harassment is not part of what they experienced.
