The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has praised security agencies for their role in ensuring peace during its local government congresses across the 21 local government areas of Kebbi State.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the exercise, which produced local government executives and national delegates, was described as peaceful, transparent, and well-organized by party leaders. The PDP said the outcome was a boost for its unity and preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
While monitoring the exercise in Birnin Kebbi, Alhaji Bello Goronyo, Chairman of the PDP Local Government Congress Committee from the party’s national headquarters, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the congresses. Goronyo, who is also the PDP Chairman in Sokoto State, noted the impressive turnout of delegates and the peaceful atmosphere across the local councils.
“So far, so good. We are very impressed with the early turnout of delegates, who either voted for their candidates or affirmed consensus candidates. The unity among members is encouraging and shows our strength going into the 2027 general elections,” Goronyo said.
He explained that delegates voted in areas where there were multiple contestants, while in consensus arrangements, candidates were affirmed. He also commended the active participation of youths and women, describing their turnout and orderly conduct as remarkable.
In his remarks, retired General Aminu Bande, the PDP’s 2023 governorship candidate in Kebbi, applauded the security agencies, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the media for ensuring a credible process.
Speaking to Mediaplusng.com, Bande said: “We are now looking forward to the State Executive Congress on September 27. Once that is concluded, we are confident of achieving victory in the 2027 general elections at all levels.”
The PDP congress monitoring team visited Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo, Bunza, Jega, and Argungu local government areas during the exercise.
