The Kogi State Government has warned that youths caught aiding or working with bandits will be treated as terrorists. The state said it will no longer tolerate acts that endanger the lives of innocent citizens and undermine peace in local communities.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the warning was issued by the State Security Adviser to the Governor, Commander Jerry Omadara (rtd.), during a visit to the palace of the Elegbe of Egbe, Oba Abiodun Agbana Omadara gave an update on the government’s ongoing fight against insecurity in Kogi West.
He revealed that intelligence reports show that some youths in Okun land are allegedly using motorcycles to transport weapons and food supplies to armed groups hiding in nearby forests. He further alleged that about six or seven youths from the area are already on the government’s watchlist for being on the payroll of bandits.
Mediaplusng.com reports that the state government has vowed to deal decisively with anyone found supporting banditry. Omadara stressed that youths with links to criminal groups will face the same punishment as bandits themselves.
He also noted that the Kogi State Government has made significant investments in agriculture by providing inputs to farmers. He urged communities in Okun land to take ownership of their safety and resist external forces trying to destabilize their environment.
Omadara concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state, stressing that no one will be allowed to disrupt peace in Kogi.
