Barely seven months after a boat mishap claimed the lives of over one hundred villagers in gbajibo community in kaiama local government area of Kwara state, another boat mishap incident has claimed the lives of twenty seven who were returning from market expedition from Niger State.
An eye witness and a survivor who narrates what happened says the incident happened three days ago at night while returning from Niger State due to overloading.
Though he can’t say the exact number of passengers on the boat, the breeze of impending rain also responsible for the incident.
The chairman of kaima local government Abdullah Danladi who led the government delegation to commiserate with the families of the victims say the government will no longer tolerate the nearly yearly occurrence and will set up a committee to ensure usage of life jacket and stoppage of night travelling among other measures.
