Labour Party Reacts to Viral Photo of Julius Abure With Wike

The Labour Party has issued a strong statement distancing itself from a recent viral photograph showing suspended former National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, alongside Minister Nyesom Wike, a known political rival of the party.

According to the statement, while key party figures such as Mr. Peter Obi and Senator Nenadi Usman are engaged in strategic national and international engagements aimed at strengthening the party and addressing pressing national issues, Julius Abure has continued to act in contradiction to the party’s vision.

The party described Abure’s recent appearance with figures perceived to be opposed to its progressive ideals as “deeply troubling” and “unrepresentative of the Labour Party’s values.”” The statement further alleged that Abure has shown a consistent pattern of disengagement from critical party activities, including grassroots mobilization, state-level campaigns, and key stakeholder events in Lagos, Kogi, Edo, and Anambra States.

“His repeated absence at pivotal moments and open association with those opposing the party’s ideals confirms the concerns that led to his suspension,” the statement said. It emphasized that Julius Abure no longer holds any official role within the Labour Party and urged the public to disregard any claims to the contrary.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy and the broader goal of building a fairer and more transparent Nigeria. It called on members and supporters to remain focused, united, and vigilant against attempts to derail its progress from within.

“The Labour Party belongs to the people. We are rebuilding with integrity, not personal ambition,” the statement concluded.
