The Lagos State Police Command begins full enforcement of tinted glass regulations across the state from October 2, 2025. The exercise follows existing laws and directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, and aims to improve public safety, curb crime, and ensure compliance with road safety rules.
According to Mediaplusng.com, vehicle owners who are yet to register for the mandatory permit are strongly advised to apply through www.possap.gov.ng. Those who do not wish to obtain the permit are directed to remove tints or replace them with transparent glasses as required by the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act 2004. Any vehicle found with tinted windows but without an approved permit will be seized, and offenders will face prosecution.
Mediaplusng.com also reports that the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, warns officers to carry out the operation with professionalism, free from harassment or extortion. He says any officer guilty of misconduct will face strict disciplinary measures, while their supervisors will also be held accountable. The CP stresses that the enforcement is not to inconvenience law-abiding citizens but to strengthen security across Lagos.
The Command advises motorists to always carry valid documents and cooperate during lawful stop-and-search exercises.
