The Lagos State Police Command has restored calm at Tejuosho Market Phase II in Surulere after hoodlums staged a violent protest over a power outage. The group reportedly vandalized sections of a commercial bank and attacked police officers on duty before they were repelled by Mobile Police Force (PMF) personnel.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the incident happened on Thursday, September 18, 2025, around 2:30 p.m. Eyewitnesses said the hoodlums also attempted to invade the market police post but were prevented by security operatives who acted with restraint while securing the area.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, immediately deployed more officers, including tactical squads, to the market. The reinforcement dispersed the mob, restored order, and arrested 18 suspects linked to the violence. Mediaplusng.com reports that the suspects are now in police custody while investigations continue to track down others who participated in the unrest.
The Command has assured traders, residents, and business owners that peace has been fully restored in Tejuosho Market and other parts of Lagos. CP Jimoh warned that attacks on police officers and destruction of property will not be tolerated, urging Lagosians to respect law enforcement officers carrying out their duties.
