he Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into a viral video showing students of Excel College, Ejigbo, Lagos, allegedly engaging in smoking, drinking, and dancing inside their hostel. Although the incident reportedly occurred in April 2025, the video only surfaced online recently, sparking public outrage and condemnation.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to take over the case from the Ejigbo Police Division. The school’s principal, who also doubles as proprietor, was earlier invited for questioning.
During the inquiry, the principal explained that the students in the viral footage had already graduated from the school. Nonetheless, the management has pledged full cooperation with investigators to ensure all facts are uncovered and measures are put in place to prevent a repeat of such behavior. Meanwhile, the Lagos Police Command has appealed to schools, parents, and guardians across the state to strengthen supervision and moral guidance for children and wards. Authorities stressed the need to promote discipline and discourage misconduct that could lead to public embarrassment or disrupt peace in learning environments.
