The Lagos State Police Command responds to a viral social media video showing an officer attempting to arrest a violent bus conductor in Ikorodu. According to Mediaplusng.com, the incident occurs after the bus driver deliberately blocks the road, obstructing police officers, LASTMA officials, and other road users, causing heavy traffic and hardship in the area. During the arrest, the conductor reportedly strips himself naked in an attempt to resist arrest and escape, which is the moment captured in the video.
Despite the conductor’s behaviour, the Police Command confirms that the officer involved has been identified and placed under investigation to determine whether his actions were appropriate. Mediaplusng.com also reports that the conductor has been contacted and will appear before the Commissioner of Police on Monday. The bus has been impounded and is currently under investigation as well.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, urges residents to remain law-abiding, avoid obstructing officials, and report any police misconduct promptly. He stresses that resisting lawful arrest is a criminal offence and warns against unnecessary dramatisation or misrepresentation of police actions on social media.
The Lagos State Police Command assures the public that the case will be handled with full transparency, accountability, and fairness. The Command continues to prioritise professional conduct and public trust in all police operations.
