A legal practitioner and indigene of Zamfara State, Barrister Mohammed Kanoma, has taken the state government to court, challenging the ban on political gatherings and rallies in the state.
Kanoma filed the suit before Justice Salim Ibrahim of the Federal High Court in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, challenging the legality and constitutionality of the Executive Order.
The lawyer argued that the ban infringes on fundamental human rights, particularly the rights to freedom of assembly and association as guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution.
He urged the court to declare the Executive Order null and void and to compel the Zamfara State Government to lift the ban immediately.
