The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially launched an integrated health campaign to tackle Measles, Rubella, Polio, Human Papillomavirus (HPV), and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) across the country. The initiative, flagged off at the Banquet Hall of the State House, Abuja, marks a major step toward Nigeria’s goal of eliminating measles by 2030.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the campaign focuses on improving routine immunization, enhancing disease surveillance, and strengthening outbreak response systems. It also seeks to integrate measles and rubella programs into primary health care while promoting the use of innovative technologies to boost vaccine coverage and accessibility nationwide.
Dignitaries present at the event include the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the Wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Ali Pate, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Sa’ad Abubakar, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, and the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Most Reverend Daniel Okoh, alongside representatives of international development partners.
